Nutritional program for pediatric cancer patients launched at SMGS Hospital

JAMMU, Sept 21: Nutritional programme for pediatric cancer patients was formally launched in Department of Pediatrics SMGS Hospital, Govt Medical College, Jammu, here today by Cuddles Foundation. Principal of Govt Medical College, Jammu, Dr Ashutosh Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. He appreciated the work being done by the Department of Pediatrics and Cuddles Foundation for the well being of Pediatric Cancer patient. He emphasized the importance of nutrition and encourage the patient and their guardians to take proper nutritional care.

Dr Ghanshyam Saini, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, apprised the gathering about the facilities available in the Department of Pediatric, the work being done in Pediatric cancer ward and the impact of nutritional intervention with the help of Cuddles Foundation.

He said that more than 400 pediatric cancer patients have been registered in Pediatric cancer ward till date. All of these patients are getting free of cost treatment with the help of NGOs such as CANKIDS, SPARKLE, HOPE Jammu and now their nutrition part is being supported by the Cuddles Foundation, he informed.

Amruta, Programme Head Cuddles Foundation, in her address, informed the gathering that Cuddles is supporting 40 such hospitals nationwide. She also introduced the local donors for the cause. ICICI Foundation, represented by Ram Pratap and Ravinder Singh, also spoke on this occasion. Rashika Jerath, Pediatric Onco-Nutritionist, conducted the proceeding and explained the activities of Cuddles being carried out at SMGS Hospital.

Dr Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent SMGS Hospital; Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Dy. Medical Superintendent; Prof Dr Sanjeev Kumar Digra, Prof Dr. Sunil Dutt Sharma, Prof Dr Mohd Razaq, Dr Anuj Bhatti, Dr Ravi Parihar, Dr Koushal Kumar Khajuria, Dr Rajneesh Kumar, Dr Sanjana Sharma, Dr Mousin Mustafa Batt, Dr Pooja Bharti, Dr Raman Sharma, Dr Surjeet Thappa, Dr Ajay Choudhary and Dr Subash Kumar were also present on the occasion.
