Pillar of support!

A single mother of three gives her best to save her son’s life.[/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”40874″ alignment=”center” animation=”None” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1634796958649{margin-top: 30px !important;}”]Sabiha Sulthana from Hyderabad is a single mother raising three children all by herself. She does everything it takes to provide a loving and nurturing home to her children. Unfortunately, her son, Syed, was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

“I was unable to grasp the severity of the situation. Syed’s diagnosis came as a huge jolt to our household, considering I am the only one responsible for everything. I feel fortunate that friends and family pitched in financially during this time,” says Sabiha. This circle of supporters also includes you. Your generous donation has ensured that Syed has access to good nutritious food during his treatment through our Supplement and Ration program. And, Sabiha has one less thing to worry about.

Anusha Bandari, our nutritionist at MNJ Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer Centre, Hyderabad, explains how good food can make medicine work. She says, “There are many misconceptions about childhood cancer, and I have seen many patients drop out between treatments. Luckily, both Sabiha and Syed worked with me on the treatment. Syed also had to take methotrexate, a chemotherapy drug that causes loss of appetite. Through a step-by-step approach, we were able to modulate Syed’s diet so that he could be strong enough to withstand side-effects of the treatment and effectively fight infections.”

Your support has helped us provide Syed with nutritious food. According to Sabiha, “Earlier, Syed would eat whatever he felt like eating. But now he understands the importance of food, and he takes complete responsibility for his diet. I was able to emotionally support my son because there was less pressure on me to provide for his nutrition and treatment.”

This has also left a positive impact on Syed’s nutritional status. He is now well-nourished and wishes to help others just like you helped him and his family. He says, “I want to become an oncologist when I grow up because I realise how it can save lives.” Syed and his family deserve every bit of help they have received. We hope Syed recovers fully and gets a chance at saving many lives in the future.[/vc_column_text][nectar_btn size=”small” open_new_tab=”true” button_style=”regular” button_color_2=”Accent-Color” icon_family=”none” url=”https://donate.cuddlesfoundation.org/” text=”Make a Donation” margin_top=”30″][/vc_column][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/6″ tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
